what is Powder Coat?
Powder Coating is a thermoplastic or thermoset polymer powder that gets electrostatically charged, sprayed onto a grounded metal part, and then baked at 350-400F so the powder melts, flows, and chemically cross-links into a durable finish.

The color selection is enormous and most often can be easily color-matched. The cured film is impact-resistant, and the equipment scales well for high volume.

The trade-offs are physical. The film is thick, at 2-4 mils minimum, which means it doesn't go on tight-tolerance parts. The cure temperature is high enough to affect heat-treated steel, softening the temper.
